What is IDAHOTB?
May 17th is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia. It was created in 2004 to draw the attention of policymakers, openion leaders, social movements, the public and the media to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTI people globally.
THEME: "Together, Resisting, Supporting, Healing"
The theme of this year's IDAHOTB regonizes the important of working together with your truly close working partners, the important of resist of those that stand against the work we do, the important of supporting each other in solidarity and not forgetting this time of the global pandemic, we need to heal ourselves from losing of a love ones and a close friend to this global virus that still harming humanity. We also make sure that the imprtant of losing our people to violence, especially a close friend and one of the head of the LGBTIQ community here in Tonga
The Tonga Leitis Association is standing in solidarity and joing collective work to progress the recognition and respect of the basic human rights of gender and sexual minorities, and building alliances is fundamental to bringing, about much needed changes and the highlight of our struggles, celebrate teh archievements and continue to press for change, of hearts and mind towards people of gender and diverse sexual minorities.
